Movie Stars Glimmer at 69th Annual Emmy Awards
Ahh, the Emmys. Television's biggest night. Last night was a chance for the best and the brightest of the small screen to come together to celebrate their talents, but in this golden age of television the occasion was filled with more silver screen stars than usual. Many big name film stars are coming to television. Not only are they trying their hand at anthologies but many are lending their talents to streaming services and newer forms of media.
Some of the stars who were out include: Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz and Shailene Woodley, all of whom came out to represent their HBO show Little Big Lies. There was also Rouge One actor Riz Ahmed and iconic film actor Robert De Niro representing.
There is some stigma television being a lesser version of film. Some think of it as less dignified and important acting. There is more pomp and circumstance surrounding the Oscars and filmmaking in general that just doesn't exist at the Emmys. This is slowly changing. As television continues in it's "Golden Age" it is only natural the most sought after actors will want to get involved and expand the reach of their craft.
